WebX0X is a drum synthesizer and sequencer. Read Introducing WebX0X if you want an overview of the synthesizer's features. This guide will help you learn how to save and share your beats.
Discover Beats
Click Latest Beats to list the newest beats shared by other people. Click My Beats to list your own beats.
Make Beats
Click New Beat to start making a new beat.
In order to save your beats you have to log into your WebX0X account. If you haven't created your account, click the Register link at the top of the page. If you already have an account, click Sign In. You can register and log in without leaving the synthesizer, so you don't have to worry about losing your work if you already started.
When you're signed in, you'll see a Save button at the bottom of each beat. Click it to show the Save Beat dialog.
The Save Beat dialog provides several options:
- Use the Title field to name your beat (required).
- Check Let everybody see and copy this beat to make your beat shareable.
- Check Save a copy, leaving the original beat unchanged to save a new beat with the current settings. This option will be disabled if you're saving a new beat. It will already be checked if you're saving someone else's beat - you can't change other people's beats, but you can copy them.
Share Beats
Any beat that has been made shareable will have a Share Link. Copy this link to share the beat with others.
Tip: Rendering Beats to Audio Files
WebX0X can't directly render beats to audio files, but there is a workaround:
- Install an audio editor. Audacity is a capable free editor for OS X, Windows and Linux.
- Install an audio routing driver. JACK is free for OS X, Windows and Linux, but OS X users may prefer Soundflower because it's easier to set up.
- Set your system audio output to your routing driver's input (see your driver's documentation if you aren't sure how to do this).
- Set your audio editor's input to your routing driver's output (see your editor's documentation if you aren't sure how to do this).
- Start recording in your audio editor and start playback in WebX0X.
- When you're done, stop playback in WebX0X and stop recording in your editor.
